Joomla Facebook Connect: Now as You Like It Open Graph Tags

Very recently, Alex Andreae has written about a flexible system from Facebook, to use any verb you want in place of like. Read on.

Last year, Facebook introduced the Like button and Open Graph tags. Those features, well supported in Joomla, are a way for a user to "Like" an object, say a certain web page.

Today, the Facebook Like button has become wildly popular and has contributed in no small measure to the growth of traffic for business web applications.

Joomla developer get in touch with experienced Joomla developers to implement Facebook integration on your Joomla site. Joomla web applications can benefit by adding

the Like button on the web pages. JFBConnect is a popular Joomla Facebook integration extension.

The Open Graph tags are what let you describe that object easily, so that when the Like is added to the user's timeline, it has the proper context with the page's title, description and image.

Ask a Joomla programmer how the Open Graph tags can significantly improve your SEO ranking. Joomla programmers know the best ways to optimize your Joomla application for

the search engines.

After more than a year and billions of Like clicks, Facebook realized that people needed to be able to 'do' more and that "Like" was a little generic. That 'more' is coming in a flexible system from Facebook to use any verb you want on your site.

For instance, in your Facebook application, you'll be able to define verbs like "Loves", "Read", "Attended", "Made", and whatever else would work on your site. Combined with some additional Open Graph love, you'll be able to define your pages

with a lot more flexibility: one page can be a "Recipe", another an "Event" and another still a "Joomla Extension", if you like.

Putting them together, when users interact on your site, you'll be able perform any combination of verbs and objects:

"Alex attended a Super Event"
"Melissa made Sourdough Cookies!"

Each of these events will push a notification to the users timeline, with links back to your Joomla site. Others can use those links from Facebook to learn more about why (and how) Alex and Melissa were all interacting with your site! That is

great for visibility, promotion and engaging with your users, as well as growing your site in organic ways.

Get in touch a Joomla development company to tip you off on how to drive the most traffic possible to your site. There are reputed Joomla development companies that have built good business web applications in Joomla and know quite a few

things on Joomla SEO optimization. They can also develop custom modules, components and plug-ins for Joomla applications.

The Facebook Like Button in Joomla

The Like button lets users share pages from your site back to their Facebook profile with one click. You can configure it as a Joomla module to pull in the Facebook Like button, use a content plugin to automatically add the Like to all articles, or

our easy-tag system for even more flexibility. Additionally, using the Facebook Open Graph tags, you can set what the title, description, image and other details that will post to the user's wall.

Facebook Open Graph in Joomla

The Facebook Open Graph tags are a way to describe your page to Facebook. When utilized, you can easily control the title, description, image, and other information that is shown in a user's wall when a page is Liked, Shared, or Commented

on. This helps to ensure that the message and brand for your pages is always how you want it to be.

The Open Graph support in JFBConnect is extensive and powerful, yet flexible and extremely easy to implement.

Joomla Day 2011 New York Recap

Thanks to the platinum sponsor Seblod, creator of a new CCK for Joomla!, we were able to host a dinner party on Friday night for 50 of our sponsors, speakers, volunteers, and international guests. The wonderful staff at House of Brews made our event quite memorable. It was exciting to have so much Joomla! talent in one room - core team, OSM board members, major component developers, hosting companies, and grateful end users mingled as the excitement level grew for the coming weekend events.

On Saturday, our generous benefactor Microsoft helped us invite all conference attendees to a party at the House of Brews. Seventy participants discussed the events of the day over beer, wings, and sliders.

After the planning and craziness is over, I can happily say that JoomlaDay2011 was a tremendous success.

Friday, the leadership team along with about 30 other attendees met to discuss where Joomla! should go in 2013. Unfortunately, I was unable to participate as I would have liked because I was setting up for the weekend. Regardless, I heard lots of great discussions occurred.  It is exciting to see where Joomla! will be going to in just a few years!

Friday night we invited the sponsors, speakers, and volunteers to another party at the House of Brews. They really put on a great event!  We had beer towers, appetizers, a great dinner, and, of course, dessert.  They even presented a chance for me to mingle and meet with many of our international guests.  What a way to start the weekend!  The conversations ranged from politics, to Joomla!, and to current world events.  I am proud to say we had guests from various countries including Western Australia, Israel, Columbia, Germany, France, Canada, and more.

Saturday morning started very early with a couple of headaches.  Unfortunately, the coffee was not brewing as it should have been, but that did not slow down the presenters or workshops.  Although, I must admit, people seemed a little fuzzy before they finally got their cup of Joe.  With plenty of bagels, muffins, juice, and other accoutrement, the keynote began at 8:45.  A special thanks to Ryan for creating a video for us that we were able to watch all together.

Each session on Saturday lasted for over an hour.  We had sessions based on extensions and 3rd party developers, sessions based on what can be done with Joomla! from a developer perspective, and other sessions focused on the 'business end' of Joomla!.  Each session was well attended, and there were definitely a variety of sessions to choose from.  In fact, the number one complaint that I have received so far was that attendees had too many quality sessions to choose from.  Well, we have a solution for that, too!  We have posted the videos on the www.JoomladayNYC.com website for attendees to check out sessions they were unable to attend.
